The traditional "qaballah of nine chambers" is actually a
compendium of 27 numerical slots to which 22 Hebrew letters are aligned with 5
letters doubling as "finals" to meet the total. No matter how you slice the
deck, 22 will never fit very neatly into 27, but the traditional system has
survived the test of time and this particular arrangement of numbers has also
been applied to other languages, most notably Greek, Arabic and English, though
any number of languages might be able to be converted to this system.
Trigrammaton achieves a degree of resolution between "letters" and numbers
unparalleled by any other means since its 27 characters exactly match the 27
numerical slots from 1-900. Since it is a true elemental Geomancy, any of its
characters can be divined using one or another random-number generators geared
to its mathematical parameters. Various systems have been employed to
accommodate this practice historically, including pebbles or stones, stalks or
throw-sticks, coins, bones etc.
Unlike the Binary system which only
requires a heads or tails kind of reading to deduce a line value, the ternary
system requires some method that can yield one of 3 possible outcomes at each
pass. I have for some years worked with a system of dice I can recommend with
confidence, not so much for its historical authenticity as for its numerical
integrity. I use a system of 3 10-sided dice, which can be used both for binary
as well as ternary readings. With the binary you simply calculate odds and evens
the same as you would using the coin-method for I Ching readings. It's a simple
method that assigns a value of 2 to any even number and 3 to any odd, so that
your tallies will always be one of four possibilities, 6, 7, 8 or 9, where a
6="running yin", 7=yang, 8=yin, and 9="running yang". On the ternary side you
simply add up the total of numbers displayed on the dice and reduce by adding
sideways so that your end total always comes in between 1-9. 1-3=Yang, 4-6=Jen,
7-9=Yin. The odds are exactly balanced this way with the exception of 0-0-0
which can either be ignored or else implemented in some other way. It has
generally been understood to be the case that running lines do not apply in the
ternary system owing to the fact that a "running jen" would still be a jen which
would seem to defeat the entire purpose. My feeling is that the verdict is not
in yet on that debate and it is in fact possible using this method to calculate
running lines on the ternary side if you so choose to do so.
At the time of this writing, on a global
scale, there might exist no more than a handful of people who are proficient
enough in this kind of knowledge to clearly recognize what a dramatic potential
exists with this untried qaballistic standard. We are looking at something
here which is nearly as disturbing as it is exhilarating. We have what amounts
to a strict elemental language which has apparently been lying face down in the
dirt for 2000 years we can be fairly certain of and possibly a lot longer than
this. The diagnostic and prognostic potentials are mind-boggling and the
numerical alignment couldn't be more perfect if it were built specifically to be
the most high-tech form of qaballah ever devised, and yet, what are we to do for
actual character interpretations? We have no "judgments" worth much of anything, no
"commentaries" to fall back on, and virtually nothing has been invested in the
development of this logic over time. We will have to approach it all from
scratch, using all available data we can find of relevance to this discussion.
Such is the fate of an Hermetic Alchemist at the height of the Kali Yuga. But
for the moment, it is sufficient to make note of the fact that such a powerful
potential looms and begin the process of piecing it all
together...
